Selah Verse — Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-08-27
Effective 2026-08-27.
These terms are the agreement between you and the developer of Selah Verse ("Selah", "we", "us") covering your use of the Selah app, its keyboard, its iMessage app, and its widgets. On the App Store the app is listed as Selah Verse: Bible Keyboard. Installing or using Selah means you accept them. If you do not, please delete the app.
We have written this in plain English. It is still a contract.
The current version of these terms is published at https://selahverseapp.com/terms.
1. Who can use Selah
You need to be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live if that is higher (16 in parts of the EU and UK). If you are under 18, use Selah with a parent or guardian's permission.
2. Your account
Selah creates an anonymous account for you automatically. There is no password to protect and no email address on file, which also means we cannot recover your library if you delete the app, lose the device, or move to a new phone. Treat your saved verses as living on that device.
You are responsible for what you do with Selah.
3. Selah Premium
Selah is free to use. Selah Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks unlimited camera captures, an unlimited saved-verse collection, watermark-free exports, premium export styles, wallpaper export, and widget customization.
The following disclosures apply to every auto-renewing subscription we sell:
- Title: Selah Premium.
- Length and price: $4.99 per month, or $29.99 per year. Prices are in US dollars; in other territories you pay the equivalent local price shown to you on the purchase screen before you confirm, which may differ due to currency and local taxes.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Renewal charge. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you chose.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renew in your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription during the trial period.
- Links. These Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy are linked from the purchase screen and from Settings inside the app.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions govern the purchase. If you believe you have been charged in error, request a refund through Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. Statutory withdrawal or cooling-off rights, where your local law grants them, are unaffected by anything in this section.
Price changes. If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you in advance and the new price will not apply to your current period. Apple will ask you to confirm before charging a higher renewal price.
4. The free tier
The free tier is deliberately generous: the full Bible in seven translations, the daily verse, the For You feed, unlimited search, the keyboard, the iMessage app, and the widgets. Free camera captures are capped per day, the saved collection shows your most recent verses, and saved images carry a small Selah watermark. We may adjust free-tier limits over time. We will not take a feature you have already paid for away from you inside a period you have paid for.
5. What you may do with Selah's content
Scripture is not ours to license and we do not pretend otherwise. The translations Selah ships are public domain, CC0, or — in the case of the Free Bible Version — CC BY-SA 4.0, and its topical data is CC BY. Share verses, post the images you make, print them, put them on a wall. That is the entire point of the app.
The attribution obligations below travel with the material and must be preserved where required:

Texts sourced from eBible.org.Topical & related-verse data
Topical and cross-reference data © OpenBible.info, CC BY.
Topical and cross-reference data is used under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) and that credit must be carried if you redistribute the data itself. The Free Bible Version is used under CC BY-SA 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/): its attribution must travel with the text, and an adaptation of that text — an edit, a paraphrase, a machine rewrite — must itself be licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Selah reproduces it without modification. "World English Bible" is a trademark of eBible.org; do not alter that text and keep the name attached to it.
What is ours is the app: the Selah Verse name and the stone-cross mark, the interface, the typography system, the export designs, the camera overlay presets, and the code. Those are protected by copyright and trademark and are licensed to you for personal use inside the app, not given to you.
6. What you may not do
Do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app. Do not use Selah's servers or API outside the app, scrape the corpus, or automate requests. Do not resell Selah, its export designs, or a subscription. Do not use Selah to harass anyone or to send unlawful content. Do not attempt to defeat the free-tier limits or the watermark.
We can suspend access if you do these things.
7. Content you create
Verses you save, notes you write, and images you export are yours. We claim no ownership of them. To run the app we need permission to store and display your content back to you, and that is the whole of the licence you give us: limited, internal, and revoked when you delete your data.
If you send us feedback, we may act on it freely and without owing you anything for it.
8. AI features, and their limits
Selah's camera and search use a third-party AI service to describe scenes and to match meaning. AI output is a suggestion, not an interpretation. A verse suggested for a photo is a machine's association between a description and a passage. It is not exegesis, it is not doctrine, and it is not personalised guidance about your life.
AI systems make mistakes. A suggestion may be irrelevant, poorly matched, or occasionally jarring given the context. Use your own judgement, and where it matters, your own reading of scripture and the counsel of people who know you.
The camera requires your explicit consent before it will run, and what that consent covers is set out in the Privacy Policy.
9. Selah is not counselling, and not an emergency service
Selah is a scripture companion. It is not therapy, pastoral care, medical advice, or a crisis service, and no part of it should be relied on as any of those.
When Selah detects language suggesting a crisis it will show crisis resources rather than search results. That is a signpost, nothing more. Selah cannot summon help. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number. In the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
10. Availability
We work to keep Selah running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid feature, we will give reasonable notice and, where a paid period is affected, arrange a fair remedy through Apple.
11. Ending this agreement
You can stop at any time by deleting the app, and delete your data by writing to support@selahverseapp.com. We may end your access if you breach these terms. Sections 5, 7, 12, 13 and 14 survive the end of this agreement.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, Selah is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will meet your needs or that its AI suggestions will be accurate or appropriate.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only as far as local law permits, and nothing here limits your non-waivable statutory consumer rights.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or loss of goodwill, arising out of your use of Selah.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Selah is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or twenty US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be brought in the courts located there.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings locally and to the protection of your own consumer law, that right is unaffected by this section.
15. Apple
You acknowledge that these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for Selah or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Selah. If Selah fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Selah. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to Selah, including product liability, regulatory compliance, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you inside the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Selah after that means you accept the new version.
